Travel Adapters For Electric Equipment

You may have questions about travel adapters and electrical voltage for devices like phones, laptops, and hair straighteners/dryers.

In Portugal, the standard voltage for all power sockets is 230V with a frequency of 50Hz. If your country’s outlet voltage falls between 220V-240V (common in Europe, Australia, the UK, Africa, and Asia), your equipment will work smoothly in Portugal. However, if you’re from the US, Canada, or South America, where the standard voltage is between 100V-120V, it is important to be aware of the voltage difference.

While here, charging your phones, laptops, and small devices is a breeze! Most of these devices are already dual voltage (110/220V), so all you need is an adapter. The common plug types are C and F, with two round pins or two round pins with two earth clips. For small devices, Type-C travel adapters are all you need.

For larger devices like blow dryers and hair straighteners, check if they are dual voltage (110V/220V 50/60Hz). If not, and you’re from the US, Canada, or South America, they won’t work on 220V. Buy a dual voltage travel device available on Amazon or any other electronics store. Like this option.

Warning: when using blowdryers – make sure to use them at the lowest setting to avoid shorting.

Avoid bulky and expensive converters. Opt for a small dual-voltage travel device instead.
