Saudade – a sentimental yearning for a former person, place or thing.
Located in Toronto’s Little Portugal, Saudade is a lifestyle boutique celebrating Portuguese design and artisan traditions. The store displays the collection of designers and brands from Portugal who are integrating the old with the new.
Opened in 2015 to great success, Saudade is a project of passion for owners Nancy Fernandes, Connie Freitas and most recently Fatima Santos. Fernandes, a teacher at Central Tech Toronto, has always had a passion for design. Today she travels to Portugal 3 times a year to meet with local designers and merchants bringing back one-of-a-kind products, both traditional and innovative, from mainland Portugal. There is so much to discover as you walk through the store. All items are very popular and an immediate hit with customers. They carry a beautiful assortment of Vista Alegre products.
As well as Casa Cubista, handcrafted Portuguese home goods made in small villages and towns in rural Portugal.
There is something for everyone. Just take a look. Hand crafted linen, pillows and more

They are beginning to import products from the Acores and plan to expand to Brazil.
The ladies hold events and activities in the store (book club, language classes, music, poetry, and pop up shops) to support Portuguese artists and bring back the traditional Portuguese affection for culture and community.
