A few years ago I began to see many doily DIY projects on Pinterest. Having Portuguese grandmothers, great aunts, and a mother who has crocheted doilies for me, they have been part of my life since I was a kid.
I have an abundance of doilies so it is great to see that I can use them in so many projects, not just to sit pretty under a vase.
I made this table runner by attaching several doilies of different patterns and sizes. This is still a work in progress. I am tempted to add more doilies soon. Have a look at this project here.
These lanterns made from recycled jars and small doilies have been a great success. I love using them on my window sill and decorating the tops differently throughout the year. This is an easy project, full instructions here.
There are so many projects out there but since I like to keep things simple, here are my favourites:
Love snowflakes? Use wooden embroidery hoops and different-sized doilies to make a wintery wall hanging.
Don’t know how to crochet a tablecloth but love the look? Simply attach a variety of doilies to the bottom and sides of an inexpensive plain tablecloth.

These little doily bowls are great to hold jewelry, candy or simply keep them empty. You can purchase similar bowls at boutiques across the country but they are so easy to make.

I love to frame doilies. Frame them individually or in a collage. A colourful backdrop will make white doilies pop.

I have so many. I had made in my student life. I have not doughter that’s why I can not transfer my art in her. Good idea to save some of that.

I never cut any doilies I use. I always try to make them fit.

Hi Linda, I just use a needle and thread. Sew them on using small stitches.

Yes, time to take the doilies out of hiding. LOL
