Mulled Wine

Mulled wine I have yet to try Mulled Wine but my daughter Marissa who is living in England this year, had the opportunity to taste Mulled Wine for the first time at Winter Wonderland in London. Her friends also love making it for parties at this time of the year and they wanted to share the recipe with me.

Here is a simple recipe that is sure to be a hit with all your friends.

Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Port
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 (750 ml) bottle of dry red wine

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat, do not boil (as not to burn off the alcohol).
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low, and let the wine simmer for at least 15 minutes or up to 3 hours.
